Sister Act Theatre Breaks at the Playhouse Theatre Edinburgh
Just as one smash hit musical based on a film closes in Edinburgh, another opens.
Hot on the heals of Legally Blonde – the musical comes Sister Act – the musical.
Sister Act the film starred Whoopi Goldberg as Delores (a tart with a heart type character) who is a witness to a gangland killing and is forced to hide out in a nunnery to keep her safe before the trial. If you remember she fills in the time taking over the choir and generally causing havoc!
So this is excellent musical fayre and indeed it has been providing audiences with a memorable night out everywhere it has appeared.
Even though the songs are original they have a classic quality to them. This is due to the fact that they are written by Alan Menken – the genius song writter behind many recent Disney films (including Beauty and the Beast and Alladin) and such stage classics as Little Shop of Horrors and A Christmas Carol.
Sister Act, Edinburgh is an action packed, family friendly feel good show. Full of songs inspired by Motown, funk, soul and disco you will be sure to be up on your feet dancing in the aisles.
The show stars Coronation Street’s Denise Black as Mother Superior
